Designing and delivering a modern, user-first men’s digital health platform

Talo set out to relaunch an existing online pharmacy as a modern digital health platform focused on men’s wellbeing. The goal was to move away from a transactional, clinical experience and instead create a guided, user-first journey that makes accessing treatment simple, private, and stigma-free. The platform enables users to complete a short consultation, receive clinically approved treatment, and have it delivered the next day through a fully online, discreet experience. Built and operated by UK-registered pharmacists, the product needed to balance a clean, brand-led interface with strict medical requirements and integrate seamlessly with clinical review and dispensing workflows.

Challenge

The core challenge was designing a product that simplifies access to treatment while meeting strict UK pharmacy regulations, including General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) requirements. The experience needed to be fast and low-friction, while still capturing accurate medical information and supporting safe, pharmacist-led prescribing decisions. The platform was not a simple rebuild. It required rethinking an outdated pharmacy product into a flexible system capable of supporting multiple treatments, subscription-based care, and evolving clinical workflows. This meant delivering a simple experience for initial use cases like erectile dysfunction, while enabling more complex clinical pathways over time.

Approach

We began with a focused discovery phase, running in-person workshops to align stakeholders, define user personas, and map end-to-end user and clinical journeys. This established a clear product direction and ensured both user needs and regulatory requirements were fully understood before development began. We then designed and built the full platform, including a guided consultation flow, user account and subscription management, and a clinical workflow to support pharmacist review and prescription approval. The system was delivered as a full-stack cloud application on AWS, integrating secure payments and fulfilment processes, with an architecture designed to support ongoing product and clinical expansion.

Outcome

The result is a digital health platform that combines speed, discretion, and clinical safety in a single experience. Users can complete a consultation in minutes, receive same-day clinical review, and access next-day delivery through a fully online journey. Ahead of launch, the platform has already attracted strong early interest, with over 100 users on the waiting list. The product is positioned not just as an online pharmacy, but as the foundation for a modern, scalable men’s health brand.
